How to Determine if Your Vehicle Has Hydroboost or Vacuum Boost Brakes
One way to tell if your vehicle has a hydroboost or vacuum boost is to check the location of the brake fluid reservoir. If it’s located on the firewall and connected to the power steering, then you have a hydroboost system. If the brake fluid reservoir is located on top of the master cylinder and there are no power steering lines connected to it, then you have a vacuum boost system. Another way is to check the brake pedal feel, as hydroboost systems provide a firmer brake pedal compared to vacuum boost systems.
