How to Set Up Vacuum Filtration for Efficient and Effective Separation of Substances
To set up vacuum filtration, first, assemble the filtration apparatus: connect a Büchner funnel to a filter flask using a rubber stopper. Then, moisten the filter paper with the solvent you will be using. Next, place the moistened filter paper inside the Büchner funnel and turn on the vacuum. Slowly pour the solution to be filtered into the funnel while ensuring there is no air entering the system. Allow the solution to pass through the filter paper and collect in the flask below. Finally, turn off the vacuum and carefully remove the Büchner funnel and filter paper.
